Monitoring commercial seed fields: Summary


As flower standing crop declines over the season, the number of open, untripped flowers per raceme is reduced.


When flowers are pollinated as quickly as they bloom, most racemes have < 5 open flowers.

A rule of thumb for the grower:
If there are fewer than 5 open, untripped flowers in bloom on a sample of racemes at the end of the day, pollination is going well.
